--The tennis team had their winning streak snapped yesterday as we fell to Grand Haven.  We battled the Buccaneer's blustery weather and had several close matches.  However, we could not seem to close them out as we skated across the frozen tundra.  Winning a match for Cityside was the dynamic duo of Khloe Phothisan/Elizabeth Rogovich.

--The 7th Grade A Volleyball team lost to Jenison 0-3 on Thursday. It was a tough loss, but we had great leadership from Lizzie Risdon who also added 4 aces, 2 digs, and 3 kills. The Chix compete in a tournament this Saturday at Grand Haven.

--The 8th grade A team had another exciting win on Thursday. They defeated Jenison 2-1 with impressive play from everyone! Mahalia Vis led with 7 assists and 5 kills. Kiersten Kuiper also had 5 kills and 1 block. Emily Wells had 4 kills and 2 blocks. Great job, ladies!

--Thanks to everyone who participated in the Cityside fundraiser! We appreciate your support of Cityside student activities.  Congratulations to Amelia Pederson - winner of the 50" flat screen TV & congrats to Holly Salisbury - winner of the $100 gift card bundle for bringing in the most donations.

--The boys and girls XC teams traveled to the South Christian Sports Park to compete in the annual Grandhaven Jamboree yesterday.  With cooler weather, cloudy skies and a lovely southwest breeze the conditions were set for an epic race.  The girls blazed out of the start like mermaids to a seaweed buffet, devouring the 2 mile  course with an appetite for speed.  Megan Kuzma led the way, closely followed by CC Kuras, Meredith Cook, Taryn DiLaura and Libby post.  The girls earned 2nd place overall with 15 racers earning personal records on the tough hilly course.  The boys were up next and rocketed out of the start with all the pent up adolescent energy they could muster.  Joe Michmerhuizen led the way for the Chix earning an impressive personal record, dropping his 2 mile time by over 30 seconds.  Also scoring for the boys were Ruben Krikke, Drew Durham, Seth VanTimmeren, and Nico DiLaura.   11 boys raced to personal records on the 2 mile course earning 3rd place overall.

--September Be.Nice Newsletter ~ This newsletter is intended to help increase awareness and decrease the stigma associated with our mental health.

--Any message needing to get to a student must be received by 1:20 pm. We call students down at the beginning of their last hour during announcements so we are not disturbing classroom instruction time.

--We can no longer allow food to be delivered from area restaurants to our students for lunch.  We aren't allowed to sign your credit card receipts, and often the order only comes with a student's first name on it making it very difficult for us to know who it is for.  Students often don't know a lunch is being delivered for them, so they don't come to pick it up and the food goes uneaten. Thanks for understanding!

-The 7th grade Girls B Volleyball team played a match at home against Muskegon last Thursday night. They went 3-0 with some fantastic serving from Pippa Boerman, Abby Lamer and Molly Meyering to help rack up the points! Great match, ladies!

--The 8th Grade B Volleyball team played at home lastThursday night against Musekgon.  The team won all three sets last night, due in the most part to amazing serves made by many on the team!  Special shout out to Hayle, Priya, Hannah, Kate, and Daveyana for amazing aces! Haylee also made an amazing kill shot and Daveyana delivered a well placed tip over the net.  Way to go ladies!

--The 7th Grade A volleyball team won their match at Grandville 2-1 on Thursday night. Winning the first set, falling back in the second, and coming back strong to win the third. Strong plays were from Lizzie Risdon with 7 Aces and 5 kills and Camille Louwerse was tough at the net with 2 blocks and 3 kills.

--The 8th grade A volleyball team defeated Grandville last Thursday night. The team as a whole had 14 aces, 4 of them coming from Emily Wells. Elyse Smith had 4 assists, Graceyn Huizenga had 4 kills, and Savannah Byker had 2 blocks.

--Thursday, the 7th grade boys soccer won against Hudsonville in a 2-1 narrow victory. Fernando Alonso Rodriguez, Kaden Lakowski, Andrew Macy and Gavin Roosien had a great first half attacking the Eagle's net. Peyton Lam had two assists and Gavin Roosien scored two amazing goals within 5 minutes of each other. Javen Bosch and Luke Trujillo, along with Petyon Lam, helped us keep possession the majority of the 1st half in our midfield. Our back four defended really well against the onslaught of shots from Hudsonville during the second half of the game as they tried to equalize. Carter Dyk, Judah Arens, Gibson Meyering, and Jax VanDyken were a wall against the Eagle Attack. Our Chix net was well defended by Connor Kolodizieizyck who saved 5 shots on target. Go Chix!!! Have a great game at West Ottawa tonight!

--The 8th grade boys soccer team lost to a tough Hudsonville team 0-4 Thursday night.  They had a few really close chances and also a missed call that would have given a penalty kick.  At one point they were playing a man down with only 10 on the field.  Despite all of that they played hard and pressed their opponent until the very end.  They travel to WO next week Monday and host Holland on Tuesday.

--The tennis team played a great match Thursday night  vs. Hudsonville Baldwin.  The overall score of this match was closer than a best friend on a summer day.  The girls played great by came up short by a score of 3 to 4 1/2.  Winning matches for Cityside were Taya Schanski, Claire Barnes/Elizabeth Rogovich, Natalie Bailey/KK Wilson, Kiana Samora, and Sophi Stepka.
